Below are all the films that have been accepted into the Film Fest. We have limited capacity to play all films, but each nominated film is under review from our judges, and still have the opportunity to win awards!
Documentary Feature
The Way It Was - Nominated for Best Documentary Feature
Throughout the 1970s, Chuck Wirschem shot all of his Alaskan adventures on 16mm film in hopes of making a movie. He never finished the project. 50 years later, his grandson Max Sauerbrey resurrects the idea.
The two travel to a remote location in Alaska called the Fox Farm to review the footage together. What begins as a restoration project becomes something more.
Captivated by the gritty footage of his grandfather's past, Max surprises Chuck with his old camera. Together, they recreate iconic scenes from the footage at the Fox Farm. But as they film, Max discovers something unexpected: Chuck doesn't dwell on what he could have done. He appreciates the high-quality experiences with family and closest friends.
The past footage reveals a man with a vision, doing everything in his power to fulfill that dream. The present footage captures a man who has lived that dream. Through their journey, Max learns that the real legacy isn't preserved on film. It's the shift from chasing more to cherishing what was.
Anne Packard: An Artist's Resolve - Nominated for Best Documentary Feature
A single mother of five becomes one of the greatest artists of her generation. (Winner: Audience Award - Best Documentary Feature, Provincetown International Film Festival 2026)
Anne is 92 years old and today will be the last day she visits the gallery that helped make her famous.
At 41, Anne’s husband left her with five small children for a 19-year-old, and her parents’ response was, “You made your bed, Anne, now lie in it”...leaving her the sole provider for her young family. As a woman in the 1970s, galleries and artists would not take her seriously. They scoffed when she hung her small paintings on the fence in front of her house. Nevertheless, she priced them between $5 and $15 on the honor system, and they sold, and sold...and sold. Galleries called and collectors swarmed to her work. Soon, she and her three daughters owned their own gallery, and her paintings were selling for thousands of dollars. Today, Anne has to give up that gallery, but she has not given up her will to create.
Nothing to See Here: Watts - Nominated for Best Documentary Feature
Sixty years after the 1965 Watts uprising, the neighborhood America wrote off has shown us what is still possible.
After a late-night police ride-along in Watts, an outsider witnesses a version of Watts that never makes the news.
Searching for a way to understand what he had seen, he poses a simple question: what would happen if the people living the story told it themselves?
Twenty residents—rival gang members, police officers, students, parents, and victims of violence—are given iPhones and full control over their narratives.
There is no script.
No central storyteller.
No outside voice shaping the story.Instead, the participants film their lives—raw, unfiltered, and on their own terms.
But the process takes an unexpected turn in the editing room.

A Dairy Story
Every day, thousands of dairy calves are separated from their mothers at birth. A Dairy Story follows a husband-and-wife team as they risk everything to prove there's another way.
Over 20 years David and Wilma Finlay transformed their farm in southwest Scotland from conventional to regenerative and, most radically, pioneering commercial scale cow-with-calf dairy farming.
Filmed over two years with unprecedented access, this poignant film captures Wilma and David’s determination to reinvent dairy farming; putting nature and animal welfare first by keeping dairy cows and their calves together. When Wilma receives a terminal cancer diagnosis, their mission to encourage wider adoption of cow-with-calf systems takes on new urgency.
Following calves from birth to weaning, we see the herd's profound capacity for maternal care in the sweeping beauty of the Scottish landscape.
This is a story about the bonds that matter most. It addresses universal themes of connection and mortality, and topics of animal sentience, the environment and system change.
A Dairy Story shows how changing a farming system changes everything; from the lives of the animals to the wellbeing of the farmers, and perhaps even the future of dairy farming itself.
Documentary Short
Trans-Taïga - Nominated for Best Documentary Short
In a world saturated with noise and pressure, wildlife photographer Jean-Simon Bégin chooses emptiness, cold, and stillness. Trans-Taïga is an intimate and sensory journey, a film that lies between poetic essay and expedition journal, where solitude, obsession, and raw beauty converge in the vast wilderness of northern Quebec.
For years, Jean-Simon has returned to the Eeyou Istchee region, hoping to catch the elusive gaze in photo of the grey wolves. Each winter, he sets out again with the same hope, even if the true encounter always slips through his fingers. The film tells the story of this patient obsession, this quest marked by cold, silence, and distance.
Swabber - Nominated for Best Documentary Short
At 82, Bobby "Swabber" Swan carves through Kootenay race courses alongside ski racers seven decades his junior. Every Tuesday, this two-time Olympian transforms Whitewater slopes with his homemade "swabber sticks," setting slalom courses that have become his personal training ground. Though time has tempered his speed, it hasn't touched his dedication.
Swabber approaches each run with the meticulous focus of someone who understands that mastery is found in the journey itself, not just the finish line.
Let My People Go Skiing - Nominated for Best Documentary Short, Untamed Short, & Green Horizons/Voices For Change Award
Confronted with the frustration of false narratives and intergenerational trauma that surround her, Tlingit skier and scientist Ellen Bradley returns to her traditional homelands in Southeast Alaska. Here, she uses skiing as a tool to reclaim her connection to the land she belongs to.
The abundance and biodiversity of Lingít aaní (Tlingit land) have shaped the people of the tides since time immemorial, molding all aspects of traditional and contemporary Tlingit life. Meanwhile, the outdoor industry depicts Alaska as a resource-rich landscape waiting to be conquered and exploited. Just like the ancestors of Ellen’s paternal clan, the Dog Salmon, have always done, people are meant to live in a reciprocal relationship with the land in gratitude of the abundant life they are gifted. Weaving ancestral knowledge, scientific understanding, and passion for her sport, we follow Ellen’s journey to help her community reclaim its place at the forefront of the stories told about their homelands. By dismantling barriers to access to snowsports for Alaska Native youth, she empowers a generation to reclaim their relationship to the land in hopes that the mountains can teach them what it will take to endure the fight to protect their culture, language, and home forever.

Sound Again
Sound Again is about a boy with degenerative hearing loss who decides, at the age of 12, to get cochlear implants. The procedure renders him technically deaf without the appliance (hearing devices), but leads to a new kind of "hearing."
Almost as a joke, he takes a high school music engineering class and discovers an unexpected talent for music. Incredibly, he becomes a talented, charismatic musician.
The Story of a Freerider: Poacha's Journal
There was never a plan B.

Marty Becker is an overweight medical student from Louisville, KY who travels to San Francisco to research hospitals to intern after medical school. While there, he meets another medical student from Louisville, Emily, in a twist of fate.
Thinking the confrontation was "meant to be", Marty is heartbroken because of, he thinks, his appearance. Three years later and morphed into a different person, Marty runs into Emily again. This time she doesn't recognize him at all. Using this to his advantage and not revealing who he is, Marty embarks on a journey of revenge to win back his confidence, only to find he's on a journey to self discovery

He shares a modest home with his “daughter” Anna, and her young daughter, Sophie. When Joseph first encounters an elderly woman named Mrs. Hirsch - her unsettling familiarity suggests a connection he cannot fully place.
As subtle disturbances begin to intrude on Joseph’s daily routine - strange conversations, fractured memories, and a growing sense of unease - the audience is led to believe the house may be haunted. Gradually, the story turns inward, raising a darker question: Who exactly are Anna, Sophie, and Mrs. Hirsch - and what is their true connection to Joseph?
In the final moments, Joseph’s carefully constructed identity collapses. Confronted by the figures who have haunted him, he stands exposed – facing an image of himself that blurs the line between past and present. Green Horizons/Voices For Change
Elements: Fire | Anna Merritt - Nominated for Green Horizons/Voices For Change Award
Klamath Tribal Member and cultural burn specialist Anna Merritt explores how fire shapes her life and the forests she loves.
This short film is one in a series called "Elements" that celebrate The Klamath Tribes’ leadership in environmental and cultural resilience through personal stories of Tribal Members and their connection to fire, water, and air.
Our goal was to collaborate closely with Anna and let her story unfold through her own voice and relationship to the Klamath Basin. We filmed across multiple seasons, allowing the forests, waterways, and plants to become characters in the story and reflect the deep connection to place that is fundamental to Anna’s work and identity.
We were honored to make this film with The Klamath Tribes and The Nature Conservancy. We wanted to understand how colonization, fire suppression, and climate change have profoundly altered the Klamath Basin’s ecosystems and cultural practices, while centering Anna’s leadership and active work to heal the land and care for her home. That work is hopeful and beautiful.

The Seeds of Peace - Nominated for Green Horizons/Voices For Change Award
A survivor of the Hiroshima atom bomb confronts her trauma and gathers seeds of trees that survived the blast; planting symbols of hope, healing, and remembrance in towns across Oregon eighty years later.
As a ten year old girl, Hideko Tamura Snider was an eyewitness to the atomic bombing of Hiroshima. Suffering the loss of her mother and family, she dedicated her life to sharing a message of peace, resilience, and collective healing.
In 2017, Hideko joined a global effort to cultivate peace by collecting the seeds of trees that also survived the atomic bomb. But Hideko could do this alone. A network of professionals stepped in at critical points to grow these seeds and distribute over 55 trees to communities across Oregon. Plantings across the state are led by groups of differing backgrounds and experiences ranging from veterans groups to Japanese American families remembering incarceration. While each peace tree in Oregon began as a seed from Hideko’s message of peace, we discover that each has taken root in a community with its own unique and symbolic meaning of peace and reconciliation.
Love Out Loud

Sally Gearhart was a lesbian-feminist firebrand, professor, and fantasy author who spearheaded the 1970s and 80s US lesbian feminist movement. SALLY! peels back proverbial (and patriarchal) layers to reveal the collectivist reality behind our heroine’s story while exploring the complex relationship between spokeswomen like Sally and movements for social change.

The Pain And The Power - Nominated for Love Out Loud Award
Decades after a sixteen-year addiction to cocaine, alcohol, and crack nearly ended his life, a Queer musician retraces his memory, music, and the wreckage left behind.
Presented by GRAMMY-winning band Portugal. The Man via PortuGAY at KNIK Records, The Pain and The Power is an award-winning, unflinching documentary portrait of artist, activist, and survivor Logan Lynn by filmmaker Cai Indermaur. Tracing a 30-year career forged at the intersection of queerness, faith, addiction, trauma, and self-reinvention, and structured around the songs from Lynn’s latest record of the same name, the film treats music not as background but as a living character.
Beginning in rural Nebraska and Texas inside a fundamentalist Christian world hostile to any type of difference, the film follows Lynn’s early sense of displacement, religious trauma, and abuse, and the ways secrecy and fear shaped both identity and survival. Through intimate interviews with Lynn, and decades of archival footage, music videos, and home movies, the film charts a restless trajectory: early success, underground acclaim, addiction, public collapse, and the slow, deliberate work of rebuilding a life on one’s own terms.
Behind the scenes footage from early music videos, vintage tour clips, and present-day studio conversations collide with moments of humor, tenderness, and brutal honesty, and features stories about Lynn’s history with Elliott Smith, The Dandy Warhols, The Get Up Kids, 80s popstar Tiffany, his embattled relationship with Harvey Weinstein, and more. The result is neither a redemption arc nor a nostalgia piece, but a meditation on what it means to outlive the versions of yourself that no longer serve you. The Pain and The Power asks what remains after belief systems fail, relationships end, and the spotlight moves on; and how art can transform damage into something communal, generous, and alive.

Wiindigoo - Nominated for Best Animation
Perhaps the hunter isn’t hunting after all…
In the 17th century, as famine ravaged the fragile lands of New France, a coureur des bois ventured alone into the vastness of the boreal forest. The man, scarred by seasons of survival and sacrifice, undertook one final hunt: to track down large game and bring back enough to feed his family. But beyond necessity, something inexplicable drives him forward, as if the forest itself were calling him.
The cinematic sequence opens on a typical Quebec autumn landscape: a cold wind stirs the red and golden leaves, the trees creak, and the light casts shadows through the branches. Every step the hunter takes echoes in an almost unreal silence. Very quickly, we realize that this environment is not just vast—it is impenetrable, and indifferent to human presence.
As the hunt intensifies, a persistent feeling of being watched sets in. Then, around a bend in the underbrush, a deer appears. Majestic, motionless, it stares at the hunter. But something is off. Its gaze is too calm, almost conscious.
Time seems to stand still.
Behind this face-to-face encounter lies a darker truth. This forest is not merely a territory stretching as far as the eye can see—it is the setting for an ancient, invisible presence that defies human rules and logic.
This cinematic sequence thus lays the groundwork for a broader narrative, where physical survival intertwines with a slow psychological descent.
